Google Cloud Storage Coldline is a public cloud cold storage service that is specifically designed to store data that organizations access no more than once a year. Google Cloud Storage Coldline, which is primarily used for archiving and disaster recovery, offers slightly lower availability than the Multi-Regional and Regional Storage classes, as well higher latency.

The Coldline service requires a 90-day minimum storage duration and, according to Google, has sub-second data access speeds. Google Cloud Storage Coldline is used primarily by cloud administrators, archive managers, compliance officers and any other IT professional that needs to store data that's infrequently accessed by enterprise applications and users.
Google Cloud Storage Coldline is one of four cloud storage classes within the Google Cloud Storage platform. The other three classes are Google Cloud Multi-Regional Storage, Google Cloud Regional Storage and Google Cloud Storage Nearline. Coldline offers the lowest price per gigabyte (GB) stored, compared to the other three Google Cloud Storage classes.
Coldline pricing is based on a pay-per-usage model, and as of this writing, users pay $0.007 per GB per month. Additionally, there is a data retrieval fee of $0.05 per GB. By comparison, Google charges $0.01 per GB per month for Google Cloud Storage Nearline, which also has a data retrieval fee of $0.01 per GB; $0.02 per GB per month for Google Cloud Storage Regional; and $0.026 per GB per month for Google Cloud Multi-Regional Storage.
While it is the cheapest of the four Google storage classes, Google Cloud Storage Coldline shares some features with the other classes, such as unlimited storage; OAuth, access controls and encryption for data security; and redundancy. In addition, Google Cloud Storage Coldline is able to integrate with other services within the Google Cloud Platform, such as Google Compute Engine and Google App Engine.
Google Cloud Storage Coldline users can access stored data through Google APIs and the Google Cloud Platform Console. Users can also integrate Google Cloud Storage Coldline with third-party backup and storage products, including those from Veritas, Egnyte, Avere, Cloudian, Sureline Systems and NetApp.
