6. Google and VMware: Unlikely bedfellows? |

Perhaps due to increased competition from tech giant Microsoft, Google and VMware entered into a cloud computing partnership in April of this year. The goal of the new duo is to allow Java developers to build and run Spring-based Java applications on Google App Engine. The apps can then be aunched on Google App Engine for Business or any VMware vCloud service, including VMware and Salesforce.com's VMforce. Will it help the companies stave off Microsoft's Azure platform? We'll find out in 2011.
