Google working towards government cloud
Following Federal CIO Vivek Kundra's announcement of the Apps.gov cloud computing application store, Google announced that it will offer a dedicated Google cloud to federal agencies in 2010.
Cloud security still top concern
According to a recent poll taken by Unisys Corporation, more than half the respondents said questions about security and data privacy were the greatest barrier in the way of cloud computing adoption. The number two response was integrating cloud-based applications with existing systems.
3Tera hooks up with Japanese telco
Cloud computing service provider 3Tera announced that KDDI, Japan's second largest telecommunications carrier, has adopted 3Tera's AppLogic cloud computing platform for use in its KDDI Cloud Server Service offering.
Public sector is cloud-shy
Even though the private sector continues to experiment with cloud computing services and Apps.gov has helped open the door for new technologies, many government offices remain cautious about putting important information into the cloud.
NetSuite wants SAP customers
NetSuite has announced the NetSuite Crossroads Initiative, a new program designed to offer SAP R/3 users facing end-of-life and an upgrade to SAP ERP 6.0 assistance in migrating to NetSuite's cloud computing business suite.
Alfresco available on EC2
Alfresco Software, producer of open source content management systems, launched its Cloud Content Application Developer Program. It will provide users with an open source Amazon EC2-ready stack and a developer kit for creating and deploying cloud service architecture (CSA) content applications on EC2.
