Rackspace attempts to educate on cloud
Rackspace has launched NoMoreServers.com to teach users about "Computing as a Service", which it defines as hosting, cloud computing and SaaS. The company claims the Web site is not about pushing Rackspace services but promoting discussion on "the trend that will bring the end of in-house computing and the rise of the All Cloud Enterprise (ACE)."

DISA expands its cloud service
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) will expand its test-and-development cloud computing service, known as Rapid Access Computing Environment (RACE), to now host applications for users at facilities around the globe.

Cloud still hottest IT market
The recent IT Cloud Services Forecast from IDC indicates that although cloud spending is not meeting projections time-wise, the market should rise to 10% of all IT spending by 2013.

Salesforce.com and Cisco join forces
The Customer Interaction Cloud, a joint Web-based offering from Salesforce.com and Cisco, combines Salesforce.com's Service Cloud 2 and Cisco Unified Communications and allows smaller companies to run customer service in the cloud.

IBM launches cloud email service
IBM has entered the cloud email market with the announcement of LotusLive iNotes. Designed for business users and destined to compete with Google's Gmail, the service will start at $3 per user per month.

Web apps on Force.com
Several developers met at the Cloudforce conference in Boston to discuss building e-commerce applications and other projects on Salesforce.com's Force.com platform.

Private cloud debate rages on
The private cloud has been called both "inevitable" and "all marketing" by those for and against it. Although some enterprises have been cutting through the hype, they're also hearing the word "change", and change is time-consuming and expensive.
