The basics of cloud computing

Cloud computing is one of the hottest topics in IT. But with so many options -- public clouds, private clouds, hybrid clouds, etc. -- how do you know where to start?

In this interview on the basics of cloud computing, Illuminata analyst Gordon Haff answers common questions about the pros and cons of cloud computing.

Haff explains to Executive Editor Jo Maitland what cloud computing is, and he describes the differences between a public cloud, private cloud and virtual data center. He also offers advice to IT professionals considering a move to the cloud.
